AICTE Pragati Scholarship for Girls
The AICTE Pragati Scholarship gives ₹50,000 a year to girl students in technical courses such as engineering, pharmacy and polytechnic diplomas, to help with fees, books and a computer. For 2026-27, applications on the National Scholarship Portal close on 31 October 2026.
What is the Pragati Scholarship?
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has run the Pragati Scholarship since 2014-15 to encourage girls to study technical subjects. Every year about 10,000 scholarships are given (5,000 for degree and 5,000 for diploma students) in most states, and in some states and union territories, including the North-East and Jammu & Kashmir, all eligible girls get it.

- ₹50,000 per year, paid directly to the student's bank account.
- Can be used for college fees, books, a computer, equipment, software and similar study costs.
- Renewed every year of the course on promotion to the next year.
Who can apply?
- Girl students admitted to the 1st year of a degree or diploma course in an AICTE-approved institution, or the 2nd year through lateral entry.
- Total family income less than ₹8 lakh per year.
- A maximum of two girls per family.
- Selection is on merit: Class 12 marks for degree, Class 10 marks for diploma.
- Reservation: 15% SC, 7.5% ST and 27% OBC.
Documents usually needed
- Class 10 and/or Class 12 marks memo
- Admission letter and fee receipt
- Income certificate issued by the state government
- Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL), if applicable
- Aadhaar and an Aadhaar-seeded bank account in the student's name
- Bonafide certificate from the institution
How to apply
- Go to the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in) and register (One Time Registration with Aadhaar).
- Choose the AICTE Pragati Scholarship (degree or diploma).
- Fill in the form and upload your documents.
- Your college verifies the application, then the state's technical education department checks it.
- Selected students receive the money by DBT. Apply for renewal each year with your promotion certificate.
