What is Cheyutha?

Cheyutha is the Telangana government's pension scheme for vulnerable people, continuing the earlier Aasara pensions. The money is credited to the beneficiary's bank account every month. Pensioners from white ration card families are also covered for health care under Rajiv Aarogyasri.

Who gets a Cheyutha pension?

  • Senior citizens
  • Widows and single women
  • Persons with disabilities
  • Weavers and toddy tappers
  • Beedi workers
  • People living with HIV, filaria patients and dialysis patients
  • New in 2026: persons with thalassemia, sickle cell disease and haemophilia (distribution to identified beneficiaries began from 15 August 2026)

Applicants should be permanent residents of Telangana from poor (BPL) families, usually with a white ration card.

How much is the pension?

Reports differ on the current amount. Some government pages and statements list ₹4,000 per month (and ₹6,000 for persons with disabilities), the amounts promised in 2023. But a news report from 1 October 2026 says senior citizens are still receiving ₹2,016 per month and that the increase to ₹4,000 has not been implemented for them. Please check the amount credited in your bank account, or ask your MPDO or municipal office, for the amount that applies to your category.
